This calculator tool uses the methods and equations found in the ACR Green Finance Impact Methodology for Diversion of Organic Waste for Composting Projects to quantify environmental key performance indicators (KPIs) for bond – funded activities that meet the requirements of that methodology. The calculator quantifies the environmental impacts of diverting food waste, yard waste, and mixed organics from landfills for composting via windrow, aerated static pile, covered aerated static pile, and in-vessel composting, including:

• Greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions
• Landfill diversion
• Compost production

Following ACR’s methodology, the tool calculates the project’s environmental KPIs, impact relative to an established benchmark, and Carbon Return (MTCO2e/$-year). Results are presented as the total benefit over the project life and are also normalized as benefits per dollar and benefits in a representative year. When applicable, impacts are also presented as a pro-rated share of the green financing relative to total project costs.
